In working with clients to help them create a stigmaZERO Workplace, I typically start with workshops for management personnel. Prior to each workshop, I have all participants complete a survey – and the results help to illuminate the challenge facing managers today.
Below are compiled results collected during the management training phase of my stigmaZERO Workplace Program delivered for two recent clients:
This first question establishes that managers feel generally quite aware of mental illness and stigma, in the workplace and/or in their personal lives. Given the many awareness campaigns over the past 5 years, this response is not surprising.
However the next response highlights the reality that awareness alone is not enough.
The answer to this question highlights the reality that managers feel woefully unprepared to respond properly to workplace mental illness and stigma. They are aware of the need to better address this challenge, but need the training and tools to do so.
This final question speaks to the impact my stigmaZERO Workplace Program has on attendees, specifically highlighting the effectiveness of my management workshop.
